CUTHBERT HARTNELL, born in Leeds on the 26th August, 1887, was killed in action in Flanders on the 16th July, 1915.

After gaining a varied practical experience with Messrs. J. and H. McLaren, Limited, Messrs. Kitson and Company, Airedale, and Messrs. Hathorn, Davey and Company, he became a director of Messrs. Wilson, Hartnell and Company, electrical engineers, Leeds, of which firm his father is the head, and devoted special attention to governors for mechanical control.

At the outbreak of war he obtained a commission in the West Yorkshire Regiment (Leeds Rifles).

He was elected an Associate Member on the 3rd February, 1914.
