1954 The Company of Scottish Cheese Makers Limited was incorporated as a private company, limited by guarantee.[1] It was founded to act as a grading agent and promotional body for Scottish cheddar. By 1994 it was in voluntary liquidation, a decision prompted by the ending of the milk marketing board system and by the Galloway Cheese Company passing into receivership.[2]
