The company was controlled by Dugald and Duncan McCorkindale and Andrew Bain

1871 The Copartnery of EADIE & SPENCER, Iron Tube Makers, Glasgow, and its then Individual Partners, ceased, on 31st December 1871, to be Partners of, or interested in, the CLYDESDALE IRON COMPANY, Malleable Iron Manufacturers, Holytown, whereof they and the Subscribers Dougald M'Corkindale and Andrew Bain were the sole Partners.[1]

1872 The Clydesdale Iron Co had 10 blast furnaces at Holytown.

1874 Further, the Copartnery of EADIE, MENZIES, & EADIE, Iron Tube Makers, Glasgow, and its then Individual Partners, ceased, on 31st December 1874, to be Partners of, or interested in, said CLYDESDALE IRON COMPANY, whereof they and the Subscribers Dougald M'Corkindale and Andrew Bain were the sole Partners.[2]

1876 Further, the Copartnery of JAMES EADIE & SONS, Iron Tube Makers, Glasgow, and its Individual Partners, ceased, on 30th June 1876, to be Partners of, or interested in, said CLYDESDALE IRON COMPANY, whereof they and the Subscribers Dougald M'Corkindale and Andrew Bain were the sole Partners. [3]

1876 The Business of the said Clydesdale Iron Company has, since 30th June 1876, been and will in future be carried on by the Subscribers Dougald M'Corkindale and Andrew Bain, under the same Firm, for their own behoof.[4]

1884 The company added new steel-making capacity to the earlier iron-making facilities.

1890 March 15th. Public company registered under the title of A. and J. Stewart and Clydesdale to take over the businesses of Andrew and James Stewart, iron and steel manufacturers and iron founders of Coatbridge and Glasgow, Stewart Brothers iron and steel tube manufacturers of Coatbridge, and the Clydesdale Iron and Steel Co of Mossend, near Glasgow.
