Brewers, of Hoddesdon

1781 Hoddesdon Brewery was purchased by William Whittingstall from Rene Briand.

From that date Whittingstall enlarged the brewery's outlets by buying up a number of public houses in the surrounding district.

1803 Whittingstall died. Messrs. John Christie and George Cathrow bought the property

1842 On the death of Cathrow, the brewery was sold to a new partnership of Messrs. Peter Christie, John Back and Robert Hunt.

1866 Charles Peter Christie took over after the death or retirement of the partners.

1898 Became a public company

c.1928 absorbed by the Cannon Brewery Co of London.
