With his parents Joseph (age 47 born Kirkstall), a Hide and Skin Broker employing 15 men, and Hannah (age 45 born Kirkstall). Also their son George (age 21 born Kirkstall), a Hide and Skin Broker. Three servants and a visitor.

1871 Living at Woodhouse Lane, Leeds (age 32 born Kirkstall), a Hide Broker. With his parents Joseph (age 57 born Kirkstall) a Hide Broker, and Hannah (age 55 born Kirkstall). Two servants.

1881 Living at Wanstead House, Burley Road, Headingley cum Burley (age 43 born Kirkstall), a Hide Broker and Soap Manufacturer employing 50 men and 25 boys. With his wife Annie E. (age 38 born Leeds). One servant. [1]
