Charles Henry Smith (1877-1960)

Worked at the Rex Motor Manufacturing Co and was also the chauffeur to his employers

Drove the Rex car in the 1903 Reliability Trial

He was a motor engineer all his life untill he retired, then continued part-time, including driving a delivery lorry for Tuxford and Tebbut (Pork Pies) of Melton Mowbray.

He gave up driving at the age of 82 after taking over 3 hours to drive home 30 miles in a blizzard
