CHARLES EDWYN CANN was born at Lewisham, Kent, on 23rd October 1882.

From 1887 to 1897 he received his education at schools in Brighton, Llandovery, Great Marlow, Brockley, and West Kensington, and took a five years' engineering course, 1898-1913, at the Goldsmiths' College, New Cross. During that time he was engaged in turn as draughtsman and erector in connexion with printing and type-setting machines.

He eventually became manager at Messrs. Hammond Bros. and Champness, Ltd., Engineers, of Old Kent Road, London.

His death took place at Lewisham on 29th June 1914, at the age of thirty-one.

He was elected an Associate Member of this Institution in 1913.
