c.1848 Charles Henry Chadburn started in business[1]

1863 His son William became a partner; manufacturing of ship's telegraph was started.

1870 Patent by C H and W Chadburn.

c.1875 William Chadburn's model of a mechanical ship's telegraph (as used to transmit orders from the bridge to the engine room). The model is in the Science Museum.

Also manufactured other nautical and other instruments for use in ships.

1898 Taken over by Chadburns (Ship) Telegraph Co.
