1885 the lease of the Canada Works was transferred to Mr Joseph Brown, a coal merchant, who formed the Canada Works Engineering and Shipbuilding Co Ltd.

1887-8 Provided the ironwork for the Litherland Road Bridge over the Leeds & Liverpool Canal. Masonry by William Hope of Liverpool. Photos here.

1888 the company went into liquidation.

1889 the machinery was sold off.

In later years the buildings were gradually destroyed.
