"CAMPBELL HENRY HERBERT CULLIFORD was the chairman of Messrs. Priest and Mullings, Ltd., constructional and mechanical engineers, Avonvale Iron Works, Bristol, and had been a partner of the firm originally founded in 1904 until his death, which occurred on 7th May 1947, in his seventieth year.
He was educated privately and at the Merchant Venturers College, Bristol, and obtained his early training with Messrs. H. O. Strong and Sons, from 1894 to 1898. After a year's experience at the torpedo-boat works of Messrs. Yarrows, Ltd., and with Messrs. Vickers, Sons and Maxim, he served at sea as marine engineer, rising to be chief engineer and obtaining a first-class Board of Trade Certificate. From 1905 to 1913 he was chief and superintending engineer for the Standard Oil Company at Hong Kong. He relinquished this appointment in 1913, and returning to England took part in founding the firm of Messrs. Engines, Ltd., in London, of which he became chairman. Two years later, however, he took up his final appointment at Bristol. Mr. Culliford had been a Member of the Institution since 1917."
