See Charles Henry Mabey and his brother James Mabey
1880 'Messrs. C. H. and J. Mabey, sculptors, Westminster, have completed the model of the Sphinxes, which they have been entrusted with, for the erection the base of Cleopatra's Needle on the Thames-embankment. The model is 18 feet in length. There will be two casts taken from it, and placed one on each Bide of the obelisk, as if guarding the Needle, similarly to the position occupied by the Landseer lions round the column of Nelson Trafalgar-square. On the sides of the pedestal of the obelisk there will be inscribed tablets of bronze which will give the particulars and history of the Needle.'[1] The sphinxes were cast by Young of Pimlico.[2]
c.1893 Mabey and Son were responsible for the large amount of modelling and carving used on Tower Bridge, London. The work was carried out on the ground at the site, or after the masonry was erected in the towers.
Produced the sculpture which embellishes the pediment of Todmorden Town Hall.[3]
