1858 Cheque books were issued

By 1872 the banking business was trading under the title of Birkbeck Bank.

1910 Birkbeck Bank suffered a run on its deposits. Continuing rumours about its financial position and a climate of depreciation in gilt-edged securities led to a suspension of payments in June 1911.

1911 London County and Westminster Bank acquired the business of the failed Birkbeck Bank
