1895 Share issue. Directors are Sydney Gross, Henry Bernhardt Gross and William Bennett Fordham (of W. B. Fordham and Sons). Business started in 1888 by Benjamin Brooke and Co, Philadelphia, Pa. USA.[1]

1899 'It is stated that an amalgamation is progress between the well-known Sunlight Soap business, conducted Messrs. Lever Brothers, and Co., Limited, at Port Sunlight, Birkenhead, the business carried on by proprietors Brooke's soap, "Monkey Brand" fame. A meeting has been called to consider the matter, and the managing director Brooke's Soap already joined the Board of Messrs. Lever's company.'[2]
