"BEDROS SANDALJIAN, whose death in his sixty-eighth year occurred in the United States on 17th September 1947, had been in that country since 1905. He received his general education at the American High School at Bardizag in Turkey and obtained his theoretical training in mechanical engineering at the Regent Street Polytechnic, London, and the City and Guilds of London Institute. He served his apprenticeship with Messrs. Joseph Baker and Sons, Ltd., London, and subsequently gained experience in their drawing office. On his arrival in the United States he was first engaged as a draughtsman by the Worthington Pump Company, Inc., of New Jersey, and later obtained a similar post with Messrs. Westinghouse, Church, Kerr and Company, of New York City.
For the rest of his career he was employed on design for various engineering concerns including the Abenaque Machine Works Co, Vermont, the Robert Gair Co, Connecticut, and the Electric Boat Co, for whom he was chiefly concerned latterly with the design of labour-saving devices and more recently had been engaged on the development of new inventions. Mr. Sandaljian had been a member of the Institution since 1901, in which year he was elected a Graduate. He was transferred to Associate Membership in 1904."
