The death occurred at a Glasgow nursing home on January 11, 1942, of Mr. Arthur F. R. Caird, of Stoneleigh, Greenock.

Mr. Caird, who was 41, was Managing Director of the Aluminium Castings Company, Ltd., Greenock, and a Director of the Westburn Sugar Refinery.

He had many activities and gave his service ungrudgingly in the public interest. He was honorary Sheriff-substitute for Renfrewshire at Greenock, Vice-Chairman of Greenock Royal Infirmary, a member of the Board of Management of the Sir Gabriel Wood's Mariners Asylum, an ex-Chairman of Greenock Provident Bank, Vice-President of Greenock Chamber of Commerce, and was on the Board of Greenock Philosophical Society. Along with a few prominent business men in the town he carried out important duties as member of the reconstruction committee after the heavy air raids of May, 1941.

Mr. Caird had been a member of the Institute since 1930 and was a regular attender at the Local Section meetings.
