Arthur Campbell Clifford was born in 1884 and studied at University College, London. He then went to the U.S.A., holding positions with various firms as Draughtsm.an and Technical Assistant.

On his return to England he became an Inspector with Turrell and Co., of London, and subsequently Manager of the Metropolitan Steam Omnibus Company.

In 1912 he was appointed Bedford Service Manager of the London General Omnibus Company and after two years in this capacity became Chief Mechanical Engineer to the London Fire Brigade.

He died on 27th April, 1942, at the age of 58.

He was elected an Associate Member in 1909 and transferred to Member in 1916.
