1887 Founded as Walter E. Ellis, West End Road.

1930 Taken over by E. J. J. Archer. Made wide range of furniture but gradually specialised in office furniture; pioneers of revolving and tilting type of executive armchair.

Became Archers

Made library, boardroom, bank furniture and furniture for embassies and hotels. ‘Stylemaster’ office range.

By 1950s was making music furniture as well as office furniture.
