1812 Company established by Andrew Melrose

Andrew's sons, John and Andrew, became partners while another son, William, acted as buyer for the firm in China.

On the death of Andrew (sen.) and Andrew (jun.), John Simpson was made a partner

1883 John Macmillan became solo partner

His sons, George, Thomas Finlayson and William Robert, succeeded him.

1923 Melroses Limited, 57 Couper Street, Leith, Edinburgh, was incorporated as a private company, with capital of £75,000, to acquire the business of tea, coffee, cocoa, grocery and provision merchants (wholesale and retail), carried on under the firm name of Andrew Melrose and Company in Edinburgh and Leith, and to carry on and develop said business in all its branches.[1]

Presumably responsible for Melrose's Tea

1986 The company, which was in receivership at the time, was bought by Premier Brands for an undisclosed sum.[2]
