Andrew Kerr was a consulting engineer of 51 Waring Street, Belfast.

His invention of the automatic explosion apparatus for boiler stop valves provides hydraulically operated apparatus for automatically closing the boiler and engine stop valve in the event of a burst in the pipe lines; or in the event of the steam in any other way accidentally escaping and causing a reduction in pressure in the steam pipes.
