1904 Ovaltine was developed by chemist Albert Wander (1867–1950), in Bern, Switzerland

1909 First exported to UK

1914 Ovaltine. A. Wander Ltd., 211 Cowcross Street, London. EC1.[2]

1915 Ovaltine. A. Wander Ltd., 45 Cowcross Street, London. EC1.[3]

1926-59 'Between 1926 to 1959, A. Wander Ltd better known as Ovaltine owned and operated 21 narrow boats which brought coal from the Warwickshire coalfields to the Ovaltine factory at Kings Langley, Bucks. By 1988 only five boats remained.'[4]

1932 Employing 1,200 persons at King's Langley.[5]

1966 Major James Hague managing director of A. Wander Ltd, the makers of Ovaltine, died aged 49 in April, as the result of a motoring accident.[8]

1967 Selling their Samor Pure Foods, Didcot subsidiary, employing 300 persons, to H. J. Heinz Co.[9]

1969 MD is E. P. Godden.[10]. A. Wander was owned by Sandoz; Godden became joint managing director of Sandoz Products in the UK[11]
