Mr A. A. Lyon, who recently died aged 85, had been a member of the Institution for 60 years.

He was educated at University College School and Finsbury Technical College, and then was apprenticed to G. N. Tanner, Regent Canal Works, London.

In 1938 he started his own firm; Arthur Lyon Ltd, East Acton, making portable generating sets for field charging of accumulators for searchlights and landing lights.

Mr Lyon was elected an Associate Member in 1902 and transferred to Member in 1908.
