Opened in Leeds by the Duke of Edinburgh on 13th May 1875.[1]

Extract from The Engineer 1875/05/28

'The Exhibition is held in the Old Cloth Hall, a hideous structure, not far from the Great Northern Hotel and the New Exchange. A large courtyard has been partially roofed over with wood and glass. and forms a fine hall, used principally for concerts and containing a good organ by Gray and Davidson. The hall is 156 ft long by 98 ft wide and 75 ft high.'
