1630 Patents
David Ramseye, groom of the privy-chamber to Charles I. had a patent for inventions "to raise water from low pits by fire; to make any sort of mills go in standing waters, by continual motion, without the help of wind, water, or horse ; and to raise water from low places, and mines, and coal pits, by a new way not yet in use."
